Midwest the New Cycling Epicenter?

While the exact details are a bit unclear at this point, it appears that Colnago will be coming to Chicago to distribute their high-end Italian bikes.

We already have SRAM here in Chicago. Less than 200 miles northwest we have Trek, Planet Bike, etc. in Wisconsin.  And, in possibly one of the most unassuming zip-codes imaginable, we may have the most cycling industry product distributors per-capita.

Move over California?

The midwest is where they are all located because it is the center of the US, right? I can’t imagine the market for road bikes that large in Chicago? I know if you go downtown or to Wicker Park, there is a ton of cheap looking fixed gear bikes, but I don’t see too many high end bikes.

Yes. The central location of our city is a big part of it — as well as Olney’s proximity to Interstate 70 and “the crossroads of America.’ As far as Colnago’s and cheap fixed gears in Wicker Park; look closer and I’m sure you’ll find something inappropriate, like a $2k track frame with MTB handlebars and outdated “aerodynamic” wheels :)

Very cool news, had not picked up on this before, thanks for the heads up.
